Weekly Wears: Welcoming Spring

By the look of these photos you might not think that spring had arrived in Edmonton but this is the thaw that comes with spring. You can see the North Saskatchewan river has started to thaw and the snow is already half melted. I cannot wait to wear flats again. Weird fact about me - I hate wearing socks.

This coat is one my favourite vintage finds. It's gorgeous velvet with a silk lining and I picked it up at a garage sale for a steal. The woman having the sale had amazing style but this coat was the only thing that fit me.

Oh hey there, just giving my best fierce pose.

I can't wait for things to start growing again. The river valley is incredibly beautiful when all the trees are green. Edmontonians wait 8 months for the colour to come back to the city. Edmonton's river valley makes up the largest urban parkland in North America. It is definitely the city's best feature. This May will mark 10 years since I moved back to Edmonton. My family moved to the west coast when I was 3 and that's where I grew up. Winter is always difficult to get through. People always ask me if I miss the coast and part of me does but I love Edmonton. I don't miss the endless grey weather but I do miss the ocean and mountains. We're fortunate to get a lot of sun here. Sunshine makes all the difference to me.
